Summer Mondays

Hanging in the wagon.

I was lucky enough to watch our nephew Carter every Monday this summer while Megan was at school and Andrew was working. He is the sweetest little boy that makes us smile each week. I can't explain how easy he is, but I guess I'm comparing him to his feisty cousin so it's quite a contrast. Claire absolutely adores her cousin and is a great helper when he is here. Almost every Monday we went to the local library for story time which was fun. We also took a lot of walks and hit the park up a couple times. The first week I had Carter my parents were in town so we all walked down to a pond to feed the ducks. I will miss my Mondays with Carter now that Megan is done with school, but it was great while it lasted.

We thought it would be fun to start an annual camping trip with the Berlings so Megan was sweet enough to find us a nice place in Lanesboro for our stay. I was a little weary about the camping idea with Claire, but I went in trying to be positive. I knew she would love spending time with family and playing with her cousins, but the sleeping situation worried me. It turns out I was right to be worried. We had a great first day playing, eating and hanging out, but everything changed once it was bedtime. I spent the whole night holding Claire so she could sleep which was in 30 minutes increments from 11:30 pm - 5:30 am. To say the least it was a long night and we only made it one night. It was worth the attempt and maybe we will try again next year, but I'm thinking hotels might be a better idea for us.

Golf Lessons 101

In my family it's never to early to learn how to play golf. It was only fitting that the first night my parents were town my dad, Pete, and Claire were playing golf in the backyard. Claire loved chasing the balls and even took a couple swings herself. I'm pretty sure she's a natural. :)
